Man jailed after bringing beer to DWI hearing

Put this is the official “What Not To Do In Court” section. A New York man is being held in jail after showing up drunk for his felony DWI hearing. To make matters worse, he made no attempt to conceal his intoxication when he allegedly arrived holding an open can of Busch beer, with four more in his bag, according to law enforcement.

While states laws and legal descriptions vary, an experienced Denver DUI lawyer points out that DWI and DUI are essentially the same offense. It just depends on the where the offense occurs and the BAC measured by law enforcement. In any event, the man would have most likely avoided jail if he had the sound advice of legal counsel before appearing before the court.
