MLB Star’s DUI More Serious Than Previously Thought

New evidence produced by the state attorney about the recent high profile DUI arrest of Miguel Cabrera indicates that the Detroit Tigers All Star came close to committing even more serious offenses. According to reports, Cabrera’s reckless driving forced two vehicles off the road, including a tractor trailer, that could have caused a serious fatal accident in either event.

DUI manslaughter is punishable up to 15 years in prison with a $10,000 fine in Florida, but Cabrera is only facing a maximum of six months in jail as it currently stands. However that could change quickly if it is later revealed that Cabrera caused any property damage or bodily harm. A DUI Defense lawyer in Denver indicates that *in Colorado, Vehicular assault in connection with a DUI charge is a Class 4 felony, punishable by 2 to 6 years in prison and up to $500,000 in fines.
