WWE high flying sensation Matt Hardy was arrested and charged with driving while impaired in North Carolina after his car ran into a tree. The arresting officer said that Hardy had not been drinking, but appeared to be under the influence of “some type of impairing substance.” DWI in North Carolina is similar to being charged with DUI in Colorado. According to the Fayetteville Observer, “Hardy’s brother, wrestler Jeff Hardy, was charged with felony drug violations after lawmen searched his home near Cameron in 2009 and found large amounts of prescription painkillers, anabolic steroids and powder cocaine residue.”

2011 is shaping up to be the year of high profile DUI/DWI arrests. It seems like everyone, from professional athletes to paparazzi personalities, is getting busted behind the wheel. Many times these celebrities lessen the judicial punishment by retaining an attorney with an extensive background un DUI defense.
