The penalties and fees associated with a DUI conviction can be devastating. Now a Tennessee Sheriff is looking to add the cost of a DUI blood test to an offender’s bill. According to the proposal, a BAC of .08% or higher will incur a fee of $100.00, which is the estimated cost for a doctor to draw blood at the jailhouse instead of a hospital. A BAC of .07% will not be charged the fee.
Many municipalities are looking to trim operating costs and tighten budgets, so more “add-on” fees like this are expected to show up around the country.
